Roxy D'Souza has worked on more than seventy Asian and Sikh weddings. She does the hair as well as the makeup herself, dupatta setting included, so a bridal party books one artist rather than two and there is one schedule to keep to on the morning.
Some bookings are a single morning. Others run across several days and several looks, and those are the ones where the planning earns its keep. The look for each function is agreed at the trial, so nothing is being decided on the morning with a room full of people waiting.
A booking includes a trial six to eight weeks before the date, a written note of every product used, and the day itself. Bridal parties are quoted per person and planned into one running order. Timings run backwards from when you need to be ready, not forwards from when Roxy arrives.
More than fifteen years in the chair and more than five hundred clients. Across London there is no travel charge. Outside Greater London there is a travel fee of £10 to £20, agreed when you book.
Which functions can you cover? Tell her what you need, whether that is mehndi, sangeet, the ceremony day, the reception or all of them, and she will come back with timings and a price per person. Do you do the hair as well as the makeup? Yes, herself, dupatta setting included. How far ahead should I book? Summer Saturdays often go a year out.
Can you do my mother, my sisters and the bridesmaids? Yes, quoted per person and planned into one running order. How early can you start? As early as the morning needs; early starts are normal. Do you travel? Across London with no travel charge, and into Kent by arrangement.
Bookings run across London, with a home studio in Thamesmead for trials. Roxy also covers Gravesend, Dartford and Bexley, and travels out to venues further afield by arrangement.
